December 1977, a small company was created on the month of December
called Texas Novachem Corporation, a specialty soap manufacturer making
hand cleaners and various products for the commercial printing industry.
The
main product line was called MicroBrush Hand Scrub, and it successfully
manufactured hand cleaner for the commercial printing industry through
distribution and partners around the country well into the 1980's. In
the mid 1980's, founder and owner, Scott Self, decided to make a change
in the company towards selling direct to the end user. UPS Ground had
just made itself available to small business with very competitive
pricing and now there existed an avenue to get product to end user
customers efficiently and cost effective.
The tele sales market
had opened up quite a bit in the 1980's as well, and thus began the
marketing push to get dirty hands to try the MicroBrush Hand Scrub. The
team pounded the phones with lots of intensity. The company grew and
people began to talk about the product in all corners of the country.
The
next major stage of the company was in 1990. Two aspects dramatically
changed the outlook of the company. First, the abilityto buy a building
on the interstate, and no longer renting or leasing factory space. We
are still in that 20,000 square foot building with plenty of room to
expand the building when the demand requires. Second, was changing our
name from MicroBrush Hand Scrub to ProSoap Hand Cleaner. The move was
very simple, ProSoap was more easily translated in other languages
around the world. The word MicroBrush was confusing and difficult to
translate in languages such as Japanese and Chinese.
The move to
a new name also enabled us to have a simple Toll Free 800 Number...
1-800-PRO-SOAP. Which before the web commerce age, was a really big
deal! 1-800-Pro-Soap brought a lot excitement to the team and for the
next ten years continued to market the hand cleaner to the end user.
Obviously, it is difficult to fill you in on everything
that the company has gone through in 31 years, but these are the major
company changes. In 2004, ProSoap made a big change to webstore
E-commerce solutions from Netsuite. The www.ProSoap.com webstore was born and carried us to the next level of service for our expanding customer base.
In
short conclusion, we are still making hand cleaner for our direct
customers in the lower 48 states and around the world in Asia and
Europe. We love making and selling hand cleaner to our faithful
customer base and want to continue serving each and every one of them
for years to come.
